New Threads Program Card Reviews in MLB The Show 25
The New Threads Program gives out three free diamond rewards, a couple of which are fan favorite swings and easily attainable.

The team at The Show Gazette will bring readers content and player reviews whenever new programs release or significant content drops into the game.
Today, we’re going through all the players you can earn through the newest big-time program in MLB The Show 25 — the New Threads Program.
JORGE SOLER
- Location: New Threads Program
- Card Series: New Threads
- Overall: 85
- Position: RF (Secondary LF)
- ShowZone profile
Perks: It’s Jorge Soler. His swing is among the best in the game, and given how the game is playing right now online, his power will play.
Grind Time: Not bad at all. You can have him within an hour, and probably faster.
Drawbacks: He is a DH and a DH only. A pinch-hitter, too, but if we’re talking starting lineup, it’s only as a DH.
Verdict: Soler is more of an elite Battle Royale option than anything, but if you’re someone who completely rakes with him, congrats because you’ve found your new DH.
GLEYBER TORRES
- Location: New Threads Program
- Card Series: New Threads
- Overall: 86
- Position: 2B
- ShowZone profile
Perks: Torres is an extremely well-balanced offensive card, and his vision (86) is on the higher end for cards at this point in the game.
Grind Time: Just a bit more than Soler.
Drawbacks: Torres doesn’t have much power against right-handed pitching (65), so prepare for deep flyouts and lineouts. And his defense (67) and arm strength (56) leave a ton to be desired.
Verdict: Torres’ swing is excellent, and outside of Travis Bazzana, there aren’t many other imminently available 2B out there. He’s quite good, even given his drawbacks.
MAX SCHERZER
- Location: New Threads Program
- Card Series: New Threads
- Overall: 88
- Position: SP
- ShowZone profile
Perks: His break is excellent, and he throws five pitches, including a cutter. For some, his delivery is difficult to pick up.
Grind Time: Admittedly? Long enough to make this particular reward not exactly worth it.
Drawbacks: Scherzer is an 88 but is the balanced type that doesn’t necessarily excel in any given attribute. He doesn’t throw hard, doesn’t have impeccable control and doesn’t have high hits per nine or strikeouts per nine.
Verdict: Do the grind for the New Threads collection, and maybe you can give Scherzer a shot. He’s not amazing, but he might do well enough.
