Inside MLB The Show 25's New Twenty in June Program

Friday afternoon's content drop in MLB The Show 25 included the addition of a brand new program style for this year's game with the Twenty In June Program. This program is centered around Sammy Sosa's MLB record for the most home runs hit in a single month, when he launched 20 long balls in June 1998.

This Sosa card is, expectedly, super juicy for this point in the game cycle, even if he isn't technically available until the full program is playable at the end of June. His 100+ Power against each handedness and 101 Clutch will make him very viable, and this Sosa card also provides a perfect example of how the Discipline rating can be manipulated to allow other attributes to shine and boost a card.

While this program initially had just one moment and three missions that totaled 16 points out of 100 needed, SDS mentioned in the program description that moments (and possibly other missions) will be added throughout June to allow players to earn his card by the end of the month.

With that in mind, we can look at his home run log from June of 1998 (via his Baseball Reference page) to try and predict which days we will get moment updates.

Based on this log, there are 15 days throughout the month of June that we can reasonably expect new moments to be added to his program. Let's just hope SDS doesn't give Cal Eldred the Tony Tarasco treatment from MLB The Show 24's Derek Jeter storyline.

Personally, I am a fan of this program structure. It is very reminiscent of the old Daily Moments Programs that have not been in the game for a few years, and having an idea of when content will be steadily added to it versus a random dump is a nice change of pace from other programs currently in the game as well.

Though, there is also a chance SDS just adds new content to this program every Friday as opposed to dates tied to the key homers.

In my humble opinion, SDS cooked on this one.
