Early MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Reviews from ProfeGamingTV, Mills

Last week, a handful of your favorite content creators were invited by SDS to Arizona for the MLB The Show 25 Spring Training event. There, they met Elly de la Cruz (among other MLB stars and veterans) and also got their hands on MLB The Show 25 early.

All the results so far seem overwhelmingly positive, with the caveat that it's unlikely these creators were given the ability to talk a ton about the game's infrastructure, legends and other surprises.

ProfeGamingTV, one of the creators who attended the event, posted Monday on X about some of his gameplay takeaways. As of now, it's the most information we've gotten from someone who's actually played the game.

Here's his X post, followed by his key points:

Played on GOAT, hit 3 HRs in 2 games. I am not trying to say I am good at the game, I am trying to state that Top Players will adjust to this difficulty faster than we expect.
Ambush Hitting: It seems we will benefit more on higher difficulties. Ambushing on GOAT might decide games.
Tested de new animation to Rob HRs: It is easier, but sometimes it might be confusing since you are supposed to hit on the greenest part of the bar and the player will start the animation on his own but sometimes we found that we needed to rob it on yellow areas. Chances to rob the HR will directly depend on players' defense attribute. Confirmed that the animation to Rob HRs might appear on HRs that are not robable. Player's height do not have an impact on chances to rob HRs.
Defense Matters, the only constants on fielding will be the ability to grab the ball, the speed and the arm. Reaction will be RNG with higher chances on players with higher reaction attributes. Players with elite reaction, elite fielding and elite speed will be noted.
SW pitch is nasty. It complies with a lot of pitches that might confuse you. SLRV, CUT, SL.
Graphically, the game looked way better.

Based on his takeaways, it seems G.O.A.T. difficulty isn't going to be the insane adjustment for top players that some have expected. Ambush hitting is also going to be critical on higher difficulties, potentially swinging the outcome of games.

Robbing home runs might take more getting used to than we initially thought, but we'll get used to it. And fielding finally looks like it'll truly matter. That's great to hear.

The biggest takeaway from it all is this: "Graphically, the game looked way better." So, there you go.

Mills added to the gameplay reviews.

PCI shrinkage on breaking balls not being a bug is big news. And it being tuned to get more swings and misses is massive. Plus, elevation reduction across the board? Bye bye, Shield and Capital Lange.

We'll cover more reviews of the game once it launches. Stay tuned to The Show Gazette for all things MLB The Show 25.
